More important than which answer you chose is this:  ARE YOU GROWING?

You see, your relationship with God is something far greater than knowledge of salvation.  A healthy faith isn't static - it should be alive and growing.  So while God loves and accepts you just as you are, he's not done with you yet.  "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."  Romans 5:8

Our redemption is just the beginning of God's beautiful plan for us to become more and more like him.  It's God's purpose for every believer to "become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ." Ephesians 4:12-13

God wants us all to become like his Son, Jesus Christ.  Like me, you most likely realize you're not there yet.  So that begs the all important question:  How do we grow in our relationship with Christ?

The answer is so simple that it's easy to dismiss.  The best way to grow in your relationship with Jesus is to Read and Meditate on God's Word every day. 

In fact, according to Greg Hawkins, author of MOVE:  What 1,000 Churches Reveal About Spiritual Growth, the number one thing anyone can do, no matter how young or mature they are in their faith, is this:  READ AND MEDITATE ON GOD'S WORD DAILY.

It may seem simple, but it makes perfect sense, doesn't it.  To grow in my relationship with Christ I need to spend time with him; I need to get to know him more and more; I need to understand the things he said, I need to see things the way he sees things.  And all these things are found in God's Word.  Therefore, let us be in God's Word daily in order that we may grow to be more and more like Christ. 

I've created a 2 Year Bible Reading Plan to equip you to be in God's Word daily.  I've specifically tailored it to help you get past all the obstacles I've personally experienced with other Bible reading plans.  Here are some of the key features:
  • This plan is very flexible and can be used in a number of ways.  You can use it to read the whole Bible in 2 years by following all 3 readings daily, or you can use it to read the whole Bible in 3 years by reading the Old Testament in 2 years and then the New Testament in 1 year.
  • This plan is designed to be relevant.  Every day there's a reading from the wisdom literature like Psalms and Proverbs to give you practical, godly wisdom. 
  • With this reading plan, you don't have to get 3/4 of the way through before getting into the New Testament.  Also, instead of reading through the 4 Gospels in a row, they are dispersed throughout the year.

USE S.O.A.P. TO READ THE BIBLE

S.O.A.P. is Scripture, Observation, Application and Prayer.

Before you start to read, pray to God to for wisdom and understanding in what you are about to read.

SCRIPTURE
Read the passages for the day from your Bible Reading Plan.

OBSERVATION
As you are reading, underline or write down anything that impresses you as a personal word to be applied. When you read with an open heart, God will give you words of encouragement, direction and correction.

APPLICATION
After you've finished your reading, meditae on how you will apply this passage to your life today.

PRAYER
Conclude with prayer that relates to God about your reading experience for the day.
